About Us:

Briardale House Youth and Community Projects is a locally run and led not for profit company limited by guarantee (company number 11878411) governed by a board of Directors.

We support and improve the lives of children, young people, seniors, and our entire community. Briardale House provides the highest quality care and after-school programs plus academic, recreational and cultural activities for children, families and individuals who live or work in Blyth, Northumberland. The aim of our organisation is to support those with the greatest need through activities to stimulate, challenge and strengthen children, teens, adults, seniors, and families.

We are based in a previous mining community in Northumberland, in an area of deprivation our community centre, which we took over in April 2019. We bring together the residents of the Cowpen area of Blyth offering a range of activities where people can come together and enjoy shared interests whatever their age.  The centre is growing into a strong community hub having built relationships with groups of all ages within the community and is used by over 300 people each week.

People can pop in for a coffee and a chat or have a meal in the community cafe - this element is vitally important for those who would normally be socially isolated and live alone. We regularly invite organisations in so people can receive education on drugs and alcohol, provide housing and debt advice and also learn how to use IT equipment and be safe online - we offer a wide variety of classes, social activities and events.

We currently offer -

 - Clubbercise

 - Hypnotherapy relaxation sessions

 - Our Friendship Club on a Tuesday and Wednesday. This is a group for over 75's to come along for the day and enjoy a homecooked meal from our 5 star rated kitchen. Along with this they play bingo, cards, dominos as well as quizzes. We even bring them to our centre and take them home in our mini-bus.

 - Trans Support Group for all who are trans, non-binary and questioning.

 - Youth Club 3 nights per week.

Plus many more activities to be announced.

We welcome all members of our community and love to provide a place to learn, relax and socialise. The community cafe gives an opportunity to get together to chat, make new friends and is a great way to combat loneliness.
